Add to your kit (optional)

Made for basement floors, which hold more moisture than garages. Do the plastic-sheet moisture test first and add the vapor primer if the slab is damp. Tools included.
Day 1: prep the slab and roll on the color coat.
Day 2: roll on the low-sheen clear topcoat.
Day 3: walk on it. Why this beats a big-box kit · How to prep your floor

A complete floor for basements and indoor rooms: rec rooms, living spaces, playrooms, home gyms and workshops. It is the Garage Pro System sized by square feet instead of car bays, with a matte topcoat that hides scuffs and roller marks, and the full application tool kit. Solid Color: B-707 High Build Epoxy with T-520 water-based polyurethane matte. Full Flake: B-707, a full flake broadcast, T-444X polyaspartic clear. Metallic: black P-015 ground coat, C-671 clear with metallic pigment, T-520 matte.

What it covers

Measure the room: length times width in feet. Choose the size at or above that number. A 22 by 30 ft basement is 660 sq ft, so order Up to 700 sq ft. Floors over 2,100 sq ft: call (877) 703-7699.

Coverage figures assume the recommended thickness on a properly profiled slab. Rough or porous concrete uses more. Order the next size up if your floor is at the top of a range.

Basements are damp more often than garages

Do the plastic-sheet test before you order. Below-grade slabs fail it often. If yours does, add P-409 Moisture Vapor Primer (one 1.5 gal kit covers about 140 sq ft) and roll it first. Skipping it is the most common reason a basement floor peels.

Before you start, check the floor

  • Moisture. Tape a 2 ft square of plastic sheet to the slab, seal the edges, wait 24 hours. Water under the plastic or a dark spot means the slab is damp. Prime it with P-409 Moisture Vapor Primer first, or the floor will lift.
  • Cracks and spalls. Fill cracks with R-818 Epoxy Crack Filler. Rebuild spalls and holes with R-343 Concrete Quick Fix. Fill saw-cut and expansion joints with R-830 Flexible Joint Sealant.
  • Oil stains. If a stain comes back a day after degreasing, the oil is in the slab. Prime those spots with P-820 Oil Stop Primer.
  • Profile. Grind or acid-etch the concrete so it feels like 120-grit sandpaper. Coatings bond to profile, not to smooth concrete.
  • Temperature. Slab and air between 60 and 90°F for epoxy (45°F for the cold-weather products and polyurea). Humidity under 85%.

Not included

  • P-409 Moisture Vapor Primer (add it if the slab tests damp)
  • Crack filler and spall repair: R-818 and R-343 if your inspection finds them
