Finished full flake garage floor

Why a Pro System Outlasts a Big-Box Garage Kit

A garage floor kit from a home center costs a fraction of one of our systems. Here is what the difference gets you.

It goes on several times thicker

Most big-box kits are water-based epoxy. A lot of what is in the can is water, which evaporates and leaves a thin film behind. Our base coat, B-707, is 100% solids. Everything you roll on stays on the floor. It goes down at 12 to 30 mils, several times thicker than a typical water-based kit.

It holds up under hot tires

The common complaint about thin garage coatings is hot tire pickup. You park after a drive, the warm tires soften the coating, and it lifts off when you pull out. A thick 100% solids base coat under a hard clear topcoat is built to take that.

It has a real topcoat

Most box kits are one coat. Our Pro systems add a UV-stable clear topcoat, T-521 or T-444X polyaspartic. The topcoat takes the wear and resists scratches, and it keeps the color from yellowing in sunlight.

Enough flake to cover the whole floor

Box kits come with a small bag of chips to scatter. Our flake systems include a 40 lb box of flake per car bay, enough to cover the entire floor. A full broadcast hides flaws in the concrete and gives the surface texture underfoot.

The same products contractors use

These are professional coatings made in the USA, the same ones used on commercial and warehouse floors. Each one has a technical data sheet, available on request.

Help from people who do this

When a box kit is fine

If you want a quick refresh on a floor you will not park on, a box kit can do the job. If you want a floor that holds up under cars for years, buy a system made for it.
