What it covers
- 1-Car: up to 350 sq ft
- 2-Car: up to 700 sq ft
- 3-Car: up to 1,050 sq ft
- 4-Car: up to 1,400 sq ft
- Larger floors: up to 1,750 sq ft or up to 2,100 sq ft
Coverage figures assume the recommended thickness on a properly profiled slab. Rough or porous concrete uses more. Order the next size up if your floor is at the top of a range. Floors over 2,100 sq ft: call (877) 703-7699.
Before you start, check the floor
- Moisture. Tape a 2 ft square of plastic sheet to the slab, seal the edges, wait 24 hours. Water under the plastic or a dark spot means the slab is damp. Prime it with P-409 Moisture Vapor Primer first, or the floor will lift.
- Cracks and spalls. Fill cracks with R-818 Epoxy Crack Filler. Rebuild spalls and holes with R-343 Concrete Quick Fix. Fill saw-cut and expansion joints with R-830 Flexible Joint Sealant. How to: how to use epoxy crack filler.
- Oil stains. If a stain comes back a day after degreasing, the oil is in the slab. Prime those spots with P-820 Oil Stop Primer.
- Profile. Grind or acid-etch the concrete so it feels like 120-grit sandpaper. Coatings bond to profile, not to smooth concrete.
- Temperature. Slab and air between 60 and 90°F for epoxy (45°F for the cold-weather products and polyurea). Humidity under 85%.
How it goes down
- Day 1: repair, grind or etch, vacuum. Roll the base coat (broadcast flake into it while wet on a Full Flake floor; pour and manipulate the pigmented clear over the black ground on a Metallic floor).
- Day 2: scrape and vacuum loose flake if any, roll the topcoat.
- Day 3: walk on it. Day 4 to 7: park on it.

VOC note
The T-521 topcoat in the Solid and Metallic kits is 306 g/L VOC. In states with stricter VOC limits for floor coatings, we will call you after you order and swap in a compliant topcoat.
Not included
- Primer: not needed on ground or etched concrete that passed the moisture test. Damp slab: add P-409.
- Crack filler and spall repair: buy R-818 and R-343 if your inspection finds them.
Flake floors: the base coat color is matched to the flake color you choose.
How thick this garage floor epoxy kit goes on
- Base coat. B-707 is 100% solids epoxy. One 3 gal kit covers 350 sq ft at about 14 mils.
- Full flake. One 40 lb box of flake for every 350 sq ft, for a full broadcast.
- Clear coat over flake. T-444X polyaspartic goes on at 5 to 12 mils wet. One 2 gal kit covers one car bay.
- Metallic. C-671 clear epoxy with pigment goes on at 16 to 18 mils over the black ground coat.
- Topcoat on solid color and metallic floors. T-521 goes on thin, at 3 to 5 mils wet. It is UV-stable.
Solid color, full flake or metallic
- Solid color costs the least and is the simplest to apply.
- Full flake hides dirt and flaws in the slab and adds texture. See full flake epoxy floor kits.
- Metallic gives a glossy, marbled floor and takes more technique. See metallic epoxy floor kits.
Every color is on the epoxy floor colors page.
How it compares with the other garage floor kits
- Garage Starter System. The same base coat with a mix wand and a squeegee. It costs less and has no topcoat, so it scratches sooner and ambers in sunlight.
- Garage One-Day System. Fast-cure coatings that go down in one day. You get less time to work each batch. The two are compared in epoxy vs polyaspartic.
- Big-box kits. See pro kits vs big-box kits.

Garage Pro System FAQ
What size garage floor epoxy kit do I need?
Measure the floor, length times width. One-car kits cover up to 350 sq ft, two-car up to 700, three-car up to 1,050 and four-car up to 1,400. Larger kits cover up to 1,750 and 2,100 sq ft. If your floor is at the top of a range, order the next size up. The epoxy calculator picks the size for you.
Do I need a primer?
Not on ground or etched concrete that passed the moisture test. A damp slab needs P-409 Moisture Vapor Primer first. See how to test a concrete floor for moisture.
Will the floor yellow in sunlight?
Epoxy ambers in sunlight when it is left bare. Every Garage Pro kit finishes with a UV-stable topcoat.
Can I install it myself?
Yes. Every order includes a free 20-minute consultation, so you can go through your floor with us before you start. Call (877) 703-7699. If we miss you, we call back within an hour.
What does it cost?
The kit price covers the coatings, the topcoat and the tools. Orders over $500 ship free. Installer prices are in how much it costs to epoxy a garage floor.
