How to Remove Epoxy From Skin

Start by keeping it off your skin. Wear nitrile gloves, long sleeves and eye protection whenever you mix or apply epoxy. Our safety glasses and gloves are made for it.

If you do get epoxy on your skin

  1. Act before it cures. Uncured epoxy comes off far more easily.
  2. Wipe off the excess with a dry paper towel.
  3. Wash with a waterless hand cleaner that contains a gentle scrub, or warm water and plenty of soap. Work it in for 20 to 30 seconds and rinse.
  4. Use a gentle scrub for residue. A paste of sugar and cooking oil, or a pumice hand cleaner, will lift what soap leaves behind.
  5. Repeat gently. Skin scrubbed raw absorbs more resin.

What not to do

Do not use acetone, lacquer thinner or other solvents on your skin. They dissolve the resin and help carry it into the skin, which raises the risk of irritation and sensitization.

If you develop a rash, itching or swelling, stop working with epoxy and see a doctor. Epoxy sensitivity can get worse with repeated exposure. The safety data sheet for each product has first aid details.
